Services for Children -
Screening and Referral Services
Children’s Intake
Provides information and screening for a wide range of mental health and/or substance abuse situations. Services include in-depth mental health evaluations and referrals.
Children’s intake provides screening and information on a wide range of mental health and substance abuse issues. We provide for in-depth evaluations and referrals for the appropriate service. We assist in the
development of plans for families and children from infants through their teen years.
To contact Children’s Intake for general information or to make an appointment, call 373-6000.
School Based
We work with local school staff to help children with behavioral and emotional challenges. We assist families to link up with the appropriate service in order to provide assistance and consultation for appropriate planning for the student and the family. This includes, but
is not limited to, community
referrals and helping to develop
individualized in-school
support plans.
Our current school partners include Kalamazoo Public Schools, Comstock Public Schools, Galesburg-Augusta Public Schools, Parchment Public Schools, Climax-Scotts Public Schools, Gull Lake Public Schools, and Portage Public Schools.
Juvenile Justice
Our staff works with the 9th Circuit Court – Family Division to help with assessments and screening of children referred to the courts. These children are screened and assessed for potential mental health or substance abuse problems.
Our staff assists these children and their families by helping them obtain
needed services, including mental health and non-mental health services.
Crisis Intervention
This service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is for
families and children requiring immediate attention. Immediate attention is needed when:
- The child may injure themselves or another individual
- The childs is unable to perform basic activities of daily living (bathing, eating, dressing or toileting)
- The family identifies that their child is having a crisis and that help is needed.
Services include immediate phone and/or face-to-face interventions throughout the community, referrals to community resources, assistance in developing safety-crisis plans, and follow-up care as needed.
To contact Crisis Intervention, call 373-6000.
