Services for Children -
Kalamazoo WRAPS
How do we do this?
This countywide collaborative initiative was conceived as a way to implement the Center of Excellence philosophy in Kalamazoo County . The federal government’s Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has granted our community a six-year grant of $6 million dollars to make systems change and to improve the way we do business in Kalamazoo County.
What can be done?
- Partner as equals with families and youth.
- Simplify and coordinate the screening, treatment and support process across all agencies, making it easier for families to participate in services.
- Provide services that are in the language spoken by the family and that build on the strengths of the family's own culture .
- Provide training to members of the system of care.
- Implement practices that have been proven to work.
- Listen, Share and Improve!
